It is with great sadness that we write to let you know that Tom DeAngelis Sr. passed away yesterday, January 29, 2019. He is a man who lived a wonderful, rich life and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Tom was a lifelong resident of Staten Island, born in Rose Bank. He graduated port Richmond high school and attended the American Institute of Banking. Early in his career, Tom worked in West Brighton at Chase Manhattan Bank. He was a Korean War veteran, and upon returning to the United States, married Theresa Mazzucco.

After his banking career, he bought Colonial Service Station and Towing Corp. in New Dorp and had a long-lasting, thriving business for 50 years with his son Tommy and grandsons. He was still a constant figure at the business up until his death, mostly to be with his son and grandsons and keep busy.

Tom was married for 53 years and traveled extensively with his wife, Theresa. He also was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church where he ushered and belonged to the Holy Name Society. He enjoyed music and was a talented piano player and auto mechanic. Surviving are his son Tommy, daughter-in-law Barbara, daughter Christine Giraud, his 6 grandchildren, his 6 great grandchildren, and his beloved friend and companion, Theresa Shapiro.

The wake is scheduled for Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Hanley Funeral Home, 60 New Dorp Ln, Staten Island, NY 10306 (Phone 718-351-1800). The viewing hours will be from 2:00pm to 5:00pm and then 7:00pm until 10:00pm.

The funeral will be held, Friday, February 1, 2019, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church on New Dorp Lane in Staten Island, The burial will be at Saint Gabriel Church, 100 North Main Street, Marlboro, New Jersey 07746 (732-780-1178) followed by luncheon in Staten Island (location to be announced).
